Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so people don't recognize them. -Ann Landers
Let's face it. It's a lot easier to sit around on Pinterest, dreaming (and I am an ardent believer in dreams), admiring an infinity of perfect beauty, filling up boards with magnificent ideas for the "Someday Garden" and the "Someday fill in the blank", than it is to get out the shovel and go to work. Not when there's more time or when more organization has been realized, but right now, N-O-W, doing something, getting the hands busy or dirty or whatever it takes to bring the dream a little nearer to reality, TODAY.
So. Take a look at those gorgeous photos. Do you see your dreams? For just a minute, close your eyes and press them into you subconsciousness. Now close the laptop or the book, and guided by the inspiration, go make your dreams happen, one shovel-full at a time.
Keri
Perfect words of inspiration!! Bravo.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Keri! I'm there! LOL!
ReplyDeleteReally nice said! I'll try to remember it next time I go on Pinterest to dream ( I'm a little addict I confess ) 8)
ReplyDeleteOh my, you saw the sad little empty pots in my garden, didn't you? I'll get to work as soon as this rain stops. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAND I would have been out there on my spring break making my dreams come true, but wouldn't you know it, IT WAS COLD! So instead, I stayed INSIDE, making paper dreams come true.....fantastic photos my dearest! Anita
ReplyDeleteI'll do it tomorrow Keri...really, I'm going to be diggging in a new garden bed for my secret garden but today I must work at my business and do some dreaming over these stunning gardens!

I will be ready when Spring finally arrives in Vermont!
ReplyDeleteHi Kerri, this post resonates so much with me...after years of dreaming about what I wanted my garden to look like, I finally took spade and hoe in hand and made it a reality...my garden has saved me so many times, overcoming loss, tempering feelings of selfishness....so many things. Over the years this hard work has rewarded me a hundred fold...not only in beauty, but lessons learned. I love the photos you have posted, great inspiration, and thought provoking words to accompany them....N.xo
ReplyDeleteHoping my garden will look a little more Springy in a few weeks...working on it!! We tagged you today, so when you get a chance, stop by ~
ReplyDeleteLove the message and it's written so beautifully!! I can't garden to save my life unfortunately!! xo
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely hard work...and sooooo worth it. I'm inspired by such loveliness every day ...wish I had more hours in the day, I'm a girl that really does try to make it happen. Great post...such beautiful images and words of wisdom. I showed my husband your ivy on the walls post...trying to make him a little less nervous about ours.
ReplyDeletePS. Stop by when you get a chance. I've got a great giveaway going that I think you will love. Have a great weekend. Mona
Great message... Your images are beautiful. I have to get busy on my garden. Just bought some flowers to plant.
ReplyDeleteOh, Keri - So true! Spring started 3 weeks early in Washington. Seeing the rush of gardeners at the nurseries totally inspires me. This is the time of year to start that garden, plan that veggie plot, etc. Digging away in DC, Loi
ReplyDeleteTotally true...I have been thinking about that a lot latey - it's easy to dream on blogs and pinterest, but I need to get up and make it happen around here! It's harder because you can't start with the perfect room and from scratch with the furniture, but that's the "opportunity" part. :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like this message....I have decided a few months ago that 2012 is going to be a year of doing, not wondering, wishing and hoping. I have started to make some of those dreams a reality and ironically one of them is to start a new but small garden......thanks for the friendly reminder, a little inspiration never hurts. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired! Have a wonderful weekend in the garden!
ReplyDeleteMaravillosos jardines y preciosos y alentadores mensajes. Besos y feliz semana
ReplyDeleteGood morning beautiful one!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for coming to visit and for your words of sheer beauty and kindness! LET'S MAKE OUR STORIES COME TO PASS! Have a creative weekend, Anita
Sometimes when I am tidying up I find old lists of things & dreams I wanted to do and it's rather amazing to see how many of them I've been able to make happen, i think the key is "one shovel-full at a time" as you said. I tend to keep them small and managable. Oh but there are soooo many more that are way too big to get written down on a little to-do list!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should make a to-do-list with the big dreams, so they don't get dusty and forgotten.
I do love your blog, so beautiful and full of good thoughts. Thank you! Happy Sunday and a lovely start to your new week, Keri xo Karen
Great advice! I often need a little push to go outside and get my hands dirty, but once I get going, it is so rewarding and therapeutic! x Sharon
ReplyDeleteI will do this!! thanks for the advice and have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteOh Kerry - what a brilliant post - and SO true! The piles and PILES of books I have on gardening, decorating, painting, sewing etc! Each time I purchase them with the aim of utilising that information and 'creating' something wonderful...but then my eye is caught by another idea, and the possibility of creating...something else! I need to close the books and DO, rather than browse the books and DON'T - LOL! Thank you so much for visiting my blog, as it brought me, in turn, to yours. You have a beautiful home, and a lovely blog. I shall now settle down to read some more of it - just for s moment or two of course - oh it's all just TOO tempting! x
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired and a New Follower. Please share on Simple & Sweet Fridays. Your advice is good, and everyone will love it.
