Gifts for Gardeners

We're definitely on the Christmas count-down now! How's that shopping going for you?

I've compiled a list of unique & useful gifts for garden lovers from under $15, & you can buy all of them from the comfort of your favorite chair.

Happy Shopping!

At the center of this garden created by Arne Maynard for the 2012 Chelsea Flower Show is a handmade hazel dome with Rosa 'Comte de Chambord' growing through it. Below, Williams Sonoma offers similar willow domes, a set of two for $49.
Willow domes from Williams Sonoma are terrific for creating a really whimsical garden feature & for supporting fruits and veggies in the garden while keeping out animals.

Durable slate garden markers from Brooklyn Slate Co. come with a water resistant grease pencil. $14 (on sale) from Brooklyn Slate. Perfect for the gardener who plants vegetables from seed.

Therapy for the gardener's hard-working hands from Crabtree & Evelyn. Available through Amazon (scroll down the Amazon page to see additional products). More options available through Crabtree & Evelyn.

I can't count the times I've mislaid gloves, snips, twine, fork, or cell phone within 5 seconds of having them in hand. Gardeners utility aprons from Williams Sonoma keep everything in easy reach. From l-r, heavy denim Garden Utility Waist Apron $49.95,  Garden Utility Full Body Apron $59.95, & linen/cotton Gathering Apron $31.99.

Or if you're feeling crafty, these patterns from Martha Stewart are very similar to the aprons above, & a customized one can be whipped up in no time.

Gardeners love to share, & these seed packets from Country Living cost almost nothing to create using a free downloadable template & earthy paper readily available at craft stores. Tied with twine or nice ribbon, they'd make a great stocking stuffer. Remember that post last spring about growing hyacinth bean vine? (see it here) These envelopes are a perfect way to gift any seeds you've harvested to friends.

Give the gift of living walls. More about living walls here. Starting a living wall is easy with Woolly Pockets products from WoollyPockets.com or  Amazon

A Glass Cloche Bell Jar is a great way to have an indoor garden any time of year, but they're especially welcome to gardeners who are riding out winter indoors. The glass helps create a jar of springtime by keeping the humidity just right inside. A variety of sizes shapes are available HERE starting at $25.

Growing a live wreath with annuals or succulents is unique, fun and super easy with a 16" Living Wreath Form. $13 from Amazon
One of the most-loved gardening books, Down the Garden Path by Beverley Nichols is not a gardening how-to but an enjoyable look at the gardening experiences of a then-amateur English gardener told in his original and witty style. One of my favorites & a book that can be read again & again. Available in Kindle, Paperback & Hardback, Amazon

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  3. Keri,

So many great ideas. I love the willow cloches, those will be on MY list for spring! :D But the living wreath form is a great idea. I've used Gardeners lotion products from Crabtree & Evelyn for years. They smell so fresh and really do rejuvenate your hands after a day in the garden.

I hope your holidays list of things to do is growing smaller!
